Char Kway Teow

I made dinner today, the first dish I made (with some assistance from my Dad) from my Women's Weekly Cookbook - Char Kway Teow, one of Singapore's classic fried noodle dishes.

My family said it tasted good. Yipee! :)

After dinner we went to my Aunt's house down the road (to help with the preparations for my Grandma's 85th Birthday), and I brought some of the dish so they could try my cooking (because they know I don't cook much). They thought it was nice too! This definitely boosts my confidence. Hehe. :)

Missin' Filipino Junk Food

I was at Mum and Dad's shop yesterday, and out of nowhere I craved for Filipino junk food. So I went to the nearest Filipino shop and bought some boodles.

Nova cheese, Tortillos barbeque, Piattos sour cream and onion, and salted tamarind.

Yum. :D

[I wasn't able to blog yesterday coz I was at Mama and Papa's shop the whole day.  Then when we got home, we had to prepare because relatives were coming over for dinner to celebrate Papa's birthday (29 November). It was such a tiring day, I fell asleep while watching Good Burger with my cousin Joseph. All good though, a very nice and simple get together.]

Mo Office Party

We had a Mo Office Party to celebrate the end of Movember. We had coffee/hot chocolate with bikkies while doing the presentation of winners. John was awarded the Best Mo in the Office. We did quite well actually - raised more than AU$600.

For those who are not aware, Movember (the month formerly known as November) is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men's health.

Women's Weekly Cookbook

I have a new cookbook! I'm so happy! I saw this at Myer the other night selling at AU$72.95 but today, I bought it for only AU$30.00 - what a bargain! I got it through this supplier who sells books at work every week.

Check it out:

I can't wait to try the recipes! [sorry, it's difficult to hide my excitement] :)

Oops I Did It Again

After having lunch we headed for the car.  On the way, we saw Man-to-Man and they were having a 1/2 price on suits sale. Dilan took advantage of this offer and went in to try on a suit.

While waiting for Dilan I went in to Gripp (bad bad decision), and a few minutes later, I came out of Gripp with this little beauty:

I can't ignore love at first sight, right? ;p

Special Lunch

My Colleague Dilan treated Stephen and I to lunch coz he became an Aussie Citizen yesterday. We headed for Highpoint Shopping Centre and decided to dine at Nandos - yumo!

I had the Classic Chicken Wrap Meal with a Nestea Green Tea Mango.

And of course, a Nandos meal is never complete without their famous peri-peri sauce!

After feeling stuffed from eating more than my tummy can carry, I still managed to make some room for my Watermelon Crush Boost - perfect for this 30c day. :D [it took me forever to finish this one]

Triple Chocolate Muffins

Okay, so I made my first set of muffins last night (with Betty Crocker's help).  It wasn't 100% successful - not all muffins were edible (coz apparently I didn't leave them in the oven long enough). I was too scared that I'll burn my new silicone muffin pan. Haha. :p

Got my ingredients from Safeway.

Here are my muffins ready to go in the oven.

Here is the final product.

I brought some muffins to work today and my Colleagues thought they tasted good!  So there. They weren't all perfect, but they tasted good.  Heehee. I'll get there one day. :)

Busy Bee

Man oh man, just when i have stuff to blog about, it gets busy at work. We need to create customised rates for our clients coz of the rate hike in 2009. Oh well, looks like my blogging will have to wait a while.

Stop Racism

It is sad to hear of situations like this. Every person deserves a second chance, deserves to be loved, deserves to have a good life - especially children.

Please read Christine Gooding's post regarding her daughter's experience.

Let us help STOP. RACISM.

Cute Ducklings

Early morning at work today, I was on my way to get milk from the kitchen to put with my cereal, but was distracted when my colleague (Annie) said that there was a mother duck and six ducklings outside! So we went outside (together with my other colleague Stephen) to look at the ducks and there they were, wandering around with nowhere to go. They were so cute, the ducklings just following the mother duck wherever it went. It was sad, because a few minutes before the animal people came, someone from another company scared the mother duck so it flew away and left the ducklings. The animal people are now waiting for the mother duck to come back before they take them all away for someone to adopt them. I ended up having my cereal outside while watching the ducks. :p

New Cooking Toy

I have decided to make Honey Joys for Christmas, and Classic Berry Tarts for New Year.

To assist with my Honey Joys, I bought a silicone 12 cup muffin pan from Myer. I was meant to use the muffin pans at home, but when I went to Myer last night, I just couldn't resist (it was the last one in stock). I'm excited now! I'm quite new at this cooking stuff, but hey - practise makes perfect! :)

Wiltshire FlexiPro 12 Cup Muffin Pan

Non stick silicone pan with reinforced carbon steel rim. Ideal for perfect muffins.
Features:
55 x 27 x 3cm
Reinforced carbon steel
Durable silicone for easy release of baked goods

Hmm.. Maybe I should take this for a test run tonight. Blueberry muffins maybe? Yumo. :)

Christmas and New Year Desserts/Snacks

Our family Christmas and New Year gatherings are fast approaching and I am still unsure as to what I should make as my contribution to the buffet we will be having. All I know is I want to make something sweet that both adults and kids can consume (this means no nuts). I'm contemplating on these simple desserts/snacks:

Honey Joys

Chocolate Mint Slices

Chocolate Crackles

Classis Berry Tarts

These are the desserts I have in mind so far. I'm not the best cook in the world, so I thought this would be good practise. This would also be a good way to prepare for my husband's arrival in a few months. :)

Newbie at N@W - Australia eGroup

I've just joined NaWoz Australia - and I'm lovin' it! This group is for newlyweds residing in Australia. NaWoz will be my new W@W, and so far, it has kept me occupied for the past 6 hours I've been at work (during my nothing-to-do times). The people I have "met" are great - very nice and accommodating. I'm really glad I joined this group. It will allow me to make new friends, and it will somehow distract me from missing my husband too much.

Baby Blogger

Now, why do I want to start a blog - a question I ask myself until now. I'm probably gonna do this for a while then neglect to blog coz I'll be too lazy. I just hope this blog will last longer than the ones I had before. Oh well, at least this will keep me occupied while I wait for my hubby to come join me permanently (and when I have nothing else to do, y'know, at work). Please excuse me, as I'm a baby blogger. Hahaha. Here goes - good luck to this blog. :p
